F.A.Q


    1. SAFETY

    Full training concerning safety will be provided. This will include the use of Automatic life jackets,
    fire blanket, fire extinguisher and the life belt. The location of safety signage and a comprehensive first aid box.
    There is a manual entitled 'Safe Boat Handling'. You don't have to request life jackets or safety equipment.

     

    2.    TRAINING

    A Inland Waterways Helmsman Instructor will spend a minimum of one hour with you. We will explain how everything works on the boat and the boat handling techniques. We want you to feel happy and confident. There is no rush we have all the time in the world to help and assist you.

     

     

     3.  WHAT IF WE ARRIVE IN BATH ON THE TRAIN?

    At no extra charge a seven seater car, will collect you from the station and return you to the station at the end of your holiday.

     

    4.    PARKING
    Secure parking is available at no extra charge

     

    5.   IS IT POSSIBLE FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO STEER THE BOAT?

    Yes, Skippered boat hire is available at an extra cost of £60.00 per day.

     

     6.   WHAT SPEED SHOULD WE GO, AND HOW FAR CAN WE GO?

    The maximum speed is 4mph, however 2mph is advisable when passing oncoming boats and moored boats. say, an average speed of 3mph plus 15 minutes per lock or swing bridge. A map and various guide books are provided, if you wish to plan your route in advance go to www.waterscape.com or www.katrust.org for more information.

     

    7.   HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN SLEEP ON THE BOAT?

    Six, two cabins with double beds plus two single beds.

    9.   WHAT SHOULD WE BRING WITH US?

    Non slip shoes, sun cream in the summer, waterproof jackets, mobile and camcorder chargers. You can bring other electrical appliances but please check with us first. If you have a MP3 player it can be connected to our sound system. There is a collection of books, DVDs CD's and games onboard, you are welcome to bring more. Everything else is provided, just bring loads of food and drink.

     

    10.     FUEL AND WATER

    You will have enough diesel and gas for your trip, but you will need to top up with water every other day. The water points are marked on the map.

     

    11.     INSURANCE

    We recommend you take out damage waiver insurance, cancellation insurance and personal injury insurance. Try the Post Office insurance, pick up a leaflet at your local Post Office or visit www.postoffice.co.uk

     

    12.     PETS

    Pets are allowed at no extra charge. Please keep them off the furniture and the bedding. We even provide a water bowl for the dog.

     

    13.  TV AND MUSIC

    The boat is equipped with a digital and analogue radio, free view TV, 300 watt surround sound system, DVD and CD player. Plus a USB port for your MP3 player.

     

    14.     BIKES

    Bikes can be stored on the roof of the boat at no extra charge. A padlock and chain is provided.

     

    15.   WELCOME PACK

    Our Welcome Pack includes; tea, coffee, a range of condiments, fresh milk, a four pack of quality lager and a bottle of wine ready chilled for your arrival.

     

    16.   CHILDREN

    Children are welcome, well behaved adults are tolerated !

     

    17.   WHAT DOES 'GRAND CRU' MEAN?

    It is a wine classification, top quality red or white Burgundy from France. Get wikipedia description here !

     

    18.    FISHING

    You will need a EA rod license, easily available. we can advise you on how to get a licence and which bait and tackle to use. Go to waterscape or environmental agency to purchase your rod licence online.

    We can also arrange the purchase of local fishing permits. Go to Bathampton AA for expert fishing information.

     

     19.   WHEELCHAIR ACCESS

    We can provide a wheelchair ramp to get aboard the boat, but there are steps to get into the boat.

     

    20.   WHERE CAN I MOOR OVERNIGHT?

    You can moor anywhere you like on the towpath side of the canal except: where you see a sign. 'private mooring', mooring reserved for lock or swing bridge use, turning points (winding holes),water points, and between locks that are very close to each other. If you are on the river always moor towards the flow of water.

     

     21.   OVERSEAS VISITORS

    22.     PAYMENT

    A 25% deposit is required when booking followed by full payment four weeks prior to the hire date.
